Project: “Road To Success” Flagler’s Youth Program is an education and training program for out-of-school young adults ages 16-21. The program is designed to help participants become members of the workforce, and improve life skills. Participants receive activity-oriented training on topics that directly relate to the skills required for workplace success; including obtaining a high school diploma or GED and/or a college education.
Coaching the Global Village is providing coaching/mentoring via Pat Willams, founder of CGV; and Christa Colletti. They meet with students for two hours each week at the Carver Center in Bunnell, Florida to offer training in basic coaching skills for empowering conversations, job skills and life skills necessary for success. This also includes values clarification, interview skills, resume creation, entrepreneurial ways to earn money, and college preparation.
This program is funded by the Center for Business Excellence with federal money.
Dates: Current and ongoing
Lead Coaches: Dr. Patrick Williams and Christa Colletti
Flagler¹s “Road to Success: Youth Program’s (RTS) is proud to announce that young adults are reaching their goals and improving their quality of life by entering the program and completing these goals. To date, dozens of students have been enrolled since 2013. Of those, most have earned their diplomas, and many have gone on to attend college, or join the military or start jobs with an eye toward advancement.
A real life success story: Emanuel is a single parent who started the program a week after giving birth to a healthy baby girl. Emanuel was determined to complete her education and did just that within 5 months of starting the program. She received her high school diploma in February of 2013 and started to work. She is now self-sufficient – paying her own bills and raising her 7 month old daughter. While in the RTS program she earned a First Aid & CPR credential, a Food Handler¹s certification and attended pre-employment and life skills training. Emanuel also attended a job fair held at the Carver Center in Bunnell. Through all of her challenges and successes Emanuel has kept an outgoing, positive attitude; encouraging and motivating newer participants who joined the program.
